Yes that is a 25 year old picture. Also did you notice the carnival rides and game booths in the background? LOL! Nelly sold 21 million records in 8 years, more than Ross did in 46 years. Nelly is the bigger star. That is why Ross is behind him and billed below him, About a year or so ago Diana Ross and Maxwell were playing the same venue in Florida. I believe it was the Hard Rock Cafe. Maxwell's ticket prices were nearly double want Diana's were.
Nelly is a bigger star than Diana. Most people under 40 have not heard of her.

Thank you. Berry Gordy invested a lot of money into Ross' solo career and wasn't seeing a return on his investment until the Diana album in 1980 and Endless Love. Then she left him. Motown was basically bankrupt in the early 80s. A key component in causing this was Ross. Ross' contract with RCA bankrupted RCA. Clive Davis is an astute businessman and would never invest in an artist like Ross.
What goes around comes around. The money she dishonestly received was taken from her by another swindler, Bernie Madoff. Instead of enjoying her sunset years, she is working non stop in her 70s playing county fairs, and 20 minute backing track gigs to put cabbage on the table. Is there an element of survival in these dates Miss Ross?
When Ross received the 20 million from RCA, they expected her to present hit albums. Instead, Ross took the money, and put crap out there. First all because she is a lazy bum, second of all is because she was already PAID, so why bother. By doing this, a lot of people lost their jobs because of her lack of integrity. She could care less about her fans. If she did, she wouldn't have released those albums. Ross is exactly where she needs to be.

I don't think Ross looks so great here.

Her fans like to fantasize that she works because she wants to, but Mary Wilson works because she has too. Truth be told, Mary Wilson gets better gigs than Ross many times today. Mary Wilson is loved, Diana Ross is not! What's up with the cheap looking Christmas tree costume in that pic?

Many talented artists have unfairly had to struggle to pay the bills in their senior years. With Ross, however, it seems like justice. Still snapping your fingers at the help Ross?
Why anyone could be so cruel to the working folk is beyond me.

Why anyone could be so cruel to the working folk is beyond me. The absolute worse thing I've heard was firing employees and then try to prevent them from working again. What kind of demon does that?

I've been going through her solo albums. Each has a few songs I like, but except for Touch Me In The Morning, Surrender, The Boss, and Diana, they are uneven in quality and mediocre. Like a Grace Jones or Marlene Dietrich, Ross has a unique timbre to her voice that can allow her to talk in tune rather than sing, which is essentially all she does.
In her recent performances she is off key, off pitch, flubs lyrics, off beat, and her timing is off. That mini concert in New York was atrocious.
There is a book about the tribe that follows her around the country from concert to concert. I believe it is the same people at these concerts otherwise they would boo her off the stage. In my opinion, I think Ross live is the absolute worst there is out there and ever was. When she was on American Idol, the performance was horrible, and really she was the type of act they would have sent packing.

If she ever snapped her fingers at me i' d light that fuking wig on fire so fast and laugh my ass walking out the door. I wouldnt piss on to put it out either. Damn she is rude.

So she has her traveling groupies like the Grateful Dead's "Dead Heads"?

So she has her traveling groupies like the Grateful Dead's "Dead Heads"? Yes she does. I purchased the book. Sick days, vacation time, and personal days are used around her concerts. Going to the concerts is not just seeing Ross but to network with an extended family. They have supported each other through deaths, the coming out process, and the ups and downs of life in general. I recognized some of them when Ross played the Kennedy Center in the posted videos. They will be in Vegas for each of the 9 shows. Add the tribe with the Die Hards in the location she is playing - Ross can do a 1500 - 1700 seat venue. There are enough for a high school auditorium size venue, but outside of that Ross is in trouble. I think they are all that is keeping Ross going at this point.
