Was that necessary, really? Toni politely told Ross that her gowns and setlist have not changed since 1985 and that her audience is looking for something fresh when they spend their hard earned money on a show, in other words no. You mean she actually had the nerve to tell the super talented, highly creative, hardest worker, Diva of all divas Miss Ross that her shit is stale? In other words, she had the gall to tell her the truth? OMG!

Hector, you sound ignorant. She never reached the heights that Michael did? No, but she reached significant heights and has a Lifetime Achievement Grammy. In 1971 she was named number 1 selling female artist in history by BillBoard. In 1993 in Guiness Book of World Records she was indicated on record as the biggest selling female artist in history. Madonna has since surpassed her in that category. She also has a Kennedy Center award. They don't just give those to anyone.

The Guiness Book of Records is for the number of singles placed on the charts, not sales.

Wilson is not and never was "lead" singer material. Period. She has an audience today only because she was a Supreme, aka Diana Ross backup singer Who would have thought that way back in 1984 when Diana Ross had her last mild hit "Missing You" that she would never, ever, ever have another hit record? She's recorded a lot since 1984, but no hits. Evidently her voice and "talent" wasn't all that to begin with. Maybe, just maybe now it was really the producers and the songs written specifically for her is where the true magic lied. Diana Ross was a marginal talent that could not survive without a lot of heavy production. She could not possibly stand toe to toe with a Mary Wilson today and sing. She would get blown off of the stage. Wilson is not and never was "lead" singer material. Period. She has an audience today only because she was a Supreme, aka Diana Ross backup singer.

Without him, she couldn't hit the side of a brick wall. She is not the number one selling female artist in history. That is Whitney Houston. Those phony "honors" given to Diane were based on faulty information that could never be verified. I've learned since being on this forum that there are dozens of female singers that have sold more records than washed up Diana Ross!

You must be on crack or some other drug. Mary Wilson has been singing lead for over 40 years now and is still getting PAID! Most people wonder whatever happened to Diana Ross? The rest under 40 have never heard of her!

Ross has had the same setlist since 1985. There is no reason for that, with the vast body of work she has to draw from. Even her loyal fans are complaining about it. The gowns are tired and look ridiculous. If she can't afford to have someone design a new set of onstage attire and stage a new show, then just stay at home. The whole show needs to be trashed - she has plenty of familiar songs to do without doing the same songs over and over and over. I think Diana Ross live is the worst ever for an alleged 'A' list act.

Diana Ross is not an A-List anything except an A-List asshole! The only reason she gets gigs now is because people of a certain age remember her name from years ago. When they hear locally that she's going to be doing a show, some go for nostalgia purposes only! Anyone going expecting to hear great singing, great music is severely kidding themselves. Watching a Diana Ross concert is like watching a live museum re-enactment, but a poor re-enactment of history.

Ross was A list under the creative watch of Berry Gordy. She slowly deconstructed every aspect of her career. Most of the pictures on this site have her doing every day errands, and no one around her cares. Ross admitted the career is gone, the men are gone - all that is left is her kids. I believe the fortune is gone...
When you tour South America and only 954 people show up for your concert...

Diana Ross would shine brighter with more brass By JOHN KATSILOMETES LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNALThe Kats! Bureau hit the Diana Ross show at Venetian Theater this week. Snap review:
Ross is a radiant, precision performer. She sings and smiles beautifully, reciting her songs as if each show is her last. “Upside Down” and a show-closing “I Will Survive” gets the crowd grooving every time. And, as anticipated, Ross dresses the part. Her Swarovski-splashed gowns, especially the gleaming white number at the end of the show, are truly staggering.
But what happened to our horn section? In previous performances at the Venetian, Ross enlisted a four-piece troupe with veteran lead saxophonist John Scarpulla joined by Vegas players Danny Falcone on trumpet, Eric Tewalt on baritone sax and Nathan Tanouye on trombone. Only Scarpulla remains in the current production, reportedly a financial rather than artistic adjustment.
The three Vegas players, all members of the Celine Dion orchestra at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace and Santa Fe & The Fat City Horns, are missed. They are great guys, great players, and great Vegas success stories. Maybe next time, eh?

All Ross can afford right now is a 6 piece band.

In truth the page had been turned, months ago; from now on, Mary Wilson would be downgraded from co-Supreme to stage prop, which was what Cindy Birdsong was hired to be. Neither would object openly since the Supremes were still working under the terms of the original communal contract, which evenly divided all monies three way.

It is a disgrace that Mary Wilson received the same amount of money as Diana Ross in the Supremes. She did the least work and does the most complaining.
