Following a controversial spat with N.W.A over the rap group's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Gene Simmons is not holding back on his feelings about Prince, claiming his death was "a choice."
Prince: Remembering the Rock Star, Provocateur, Genius How he created a world – but, in the end, could only go it alone
"Bowie was the most tragic of all because it was real sickness," the Kiss member told Newsweek. "[Prince's] drugs killed him. What do you think, he died from a cold?"
Prince's autopsy results were inconclusive and still awaiting a full toxicology report. The musician was reported to have painkillers on hand though it has not been confirmed by a medical examiner whether or not an overdose was what killed him. There were reports, however, that an addiction specialist had made the 911 call that led to the discovery of his body at Paisley Park. Prince was supposed to meet with the specialist the day he was found.
"I think Prince was heads, hands and feet about all the rest of them," Simmons continued. "I thought he left [Michael] Jackson in the dust. Prince was way beyond that. But how pathetic that he killed himself. Don't kid yourself, that's what he did. Slowly, I'll grant you … but that's what drugs and alcohol is: a slow death."
Paul Stanley apologized for his bandmate's comments via Twitter, stating that he is "embarrassed" by Simmons' "cold clueless statements" about Prince's death. "Without all the facts better to say nothing."
Simmons, who claims to have never been high or drunk in his life, recalled meeting Prince early in the late star's career, having taken his then-girlfriend Diana Ross to see him before he became popular. "Backstage when we came up to say 'You were great,' we were expecting this huge personality and he was a very small, slight human being. He might have been five-foot-four, very shy, with his eyes to the ground, very self-effacing. He just couldn't take a compliment: 'Thank, thank you.' He spoke in a whisper. It was shocking actually. He couldn't look Diana Ross in the face — he kept his eyes to the ground."
Simmons wrapped his thoughts on Prince with a reflection on what led to alleged addiction. "The one question I have is: When we all start out and we have these big dreams and you finally get your wish — you have more money than God and fame — what is that insane gene in us, well, a lot of us, that makes us want to succumb to the cliché of clichés: drugs and alcohol?"

Diana spends the rest of her years raising the rent doing her Motown oldies in small venues. If someone told me this was going to happen I would have told them they were a liar.

Gene Simmons on Michael Jackson: “He Molested Those Kids”
Gene Simmons spoke to Team Rock about his relationship with Michael Jackson, and he is still standing by his previous claims that MJ was definitely molesting little boys!
The KISS frontman says he knew some of the musicians who toured with MJ…and one musician in particular quit a tour with the King of Pop after seeing little boys coming out of his hotel rooms.
He also brought up MJ’s travel agent who would fly boys in from Brazil.
“And then you factor in that his travel agent was put on the stand and in court said that she was authorized to fly to Brazil and bring boys back to America for him… Well, you know, where there’s smoke there’s fire. There’s no question in my mind he molested those kids. Not a doubt.” – Gene Simmons
Gene also questioned MJ’s sexuality…saying he never met one female who admitted to having sex with the late singer, and the only people associated with MJ were little boys.
“And incidentally, there’s never been a single female of any age that I’ve ever known about who has ever made a claim that she has had a physical relationship with Michael, ever. In fact, while he was alive, I never heard about mature men ever making that claim either – and believe me, you can’t keep it a secret. If you’re a celebrity, somebody somewhere will say, “Oh yeah, I shagged him.” – Gene Simmons
Do you think Gene is wrong for bringing up MJ’s old dirt? Do you believe him?

Kiss Dropped From Michael Jackson Concert Because Gene Simmons Called MJ A Child Molester Los Angeles (CNN) -- Promoters yanked the rock band KISS from the Michael Jackson tribute show Tuesday after fans called their attention to negative remarks KISS leader Gene Simmons made about the pop star in the weeks after his death.
The reversals came a day after Katherine Jackson appeared live on CNN to announce the addition of KISS to the lineup for "Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert," scheduled for October 8 in Cardiff, Wales.
"We have listened to Michael's fans and are grateful to have been alerted to these unfortunate statements by Gene Simmons," Global Live Events CEO Chris Hunt told CNN Tuesday.
Fan clubs appeared in open revolt against the tribute show after promoters added the group. Fan websites pointed to published interviews in which Simmons spoke about his suspicions that Jackson, who was acquitted of child molestation in 2005, was a pedophile.
The executors of the Michael Jackson estate also spoke out late Monday, sending a letter to the promoters saying they were "especially disappointed" by the announcement that KISS was in the show. The estate asked promoters to provide an explanation.

Why would Gene Simmons expect to be included on the bill after those comments? Furthermore, if this is how he felt, why would he want to participate.

Diana Ross is a disgusting person and a mediocre singer. She should have completely retired 15-20 years ago. Most people in the U.S. thinks she has. Ross tours forever singing her Motown hits. I think she sings one song after 1981 - Missing You. A washed up has been. She is such a hag. I don't think that there is anything wrong with being an Oldies Act, she is an old woman, singing old songs while wearing old dresses. I do have a problem with her charging people more than $40 to see that train wreck.
