There are no gentlemen in this forum. A man with class and decency never uses foul language around a lady or a child. Vile language shows a lack of breading and class and I applaud Miss Diane Ross for not tolerating vulgarity in her presence. I abhor cussing and feel it shows a lack of education. Roberta Correction, there is one gentleman in this here forum- you! A lack of education lol! A lack of breading - we talking about veal parmesan on this here forum! Plus Robert Roberta lacks the intelligence to understand the real issue of the story. Hint: not the swearing!

Not a wise idea to pontificate about a lack of breeding and education in this forum and spell breeding 'breading'

Early on with the Supremes, Ross would sing her lead, then join Mary and Florence to record the background. As she grew away from them, she stopped singing background. Said Mary, "Besides being upstaged, Flo and I also felt that the records suffered; our three part harmonies were so beautiful; we should have recorded more of them."

Their harmonies were heavenly! Their harmonies were better than any other girl group in my opinion because each voice was distinctive. Just listen to "A Breathtaking Guy" as a good example. Why Motown messed with that is beyond me.

Thanks for your insight. The harmony of Florence and Mary is so distinctive, the public immediately knew when they are not on the records. If you examine the sales data, you will notice that there was a steep fall in sales once Mary and Florence were not utilized on records and the Andantes were used. An argument can be stated that Supremes A Go Go was mainly Ross solo and that album was a tremendous success with Ross' paper thin, slivered vocals upfront.
Supremes A Go Go was an album in which the Supremes co-starred with a concept. Dance clubs were the current rage, and Berry Gordy exploited the trend. It was this type of career mastermind that catapulted the Ross to success and the absence of which that have led to album after album of downright embarrassing sales numbers.

Miss Ross had a cold but came to the show, the trouper and the professional that she is, for the sake of the Berry, Motown alumni, and her backup singers. Get over it Marv/Hector.
