Ross used to be a strong concert attraction, even with inconsistent record sales. For ten years this woman has been on the road long and hard with the In The Name of Love Tour, the I Love You Tour, The More Today Than Yesterday - The Greatest Hits Tour, and The Essential Ross - Some Memories Never Fade Tour.
None of her tours has placed in the top 100 grossing tours of the year, and she is doing more dates than the artists that rank! Gone are the days of playing stadiums and arenas, breaking box office records at Radio City Music Hall, and receiving 10 million for an engagement in Vegas.
Ross is breaking the rules she established: 1. Miss Ross does not play multiple act concerts. 2. Miss Ross does not play a set of less than 20 minutes to a backing track. 3. Miss Ross does not play 'function' dates ( eg. Tom Joyner Tours, County Fairs, Urban League Banquets) 4. Miss Ross always receives top billing ( Nelly received top billing at the County Fair)
All of the touring did not help sales of I Love You. It was a flop in the UK, peaking at 60, and sold 135,000 copies in the US.

But if she is getting paid $500,000 for playing the Urban League Banquet (according to Jobeterob)and $500,000 to play a County fair that's great right? With all of those shows at a half million dollars each, Diana Ross should definitely be hitting the radar of concert revenues ok?

135,000 copies sold of her last album that is already over 10 years old? First of all Jobeterob said it was another million seller. Secondly, how is this broad making money?

Ross was never an album artist. By album artist, I mean an artist who is guaranteed sales based on the release of the album without hit singles. In looking at the Supremes sales, they were guaranteed a gold album no matter what they put out. They were so hot, that assembling slipshod collections of studio tracks could sell. Berry Gordy struck while the iron was hot, releasing 5 or 6 albums a year, because later incarnations of the Supremes nor Ross solo could not guarantee strong sales.
Ross is basically a singles artist. If she had a hit tune, she could go gold. Without a hit, she could move 200,000 copies of an album. The Evening with Diana Ross released in 1977, which appealed to her hard core fan base, was a 2 record deluxe packaging of a show that received rave reviews and garnered a Tony, and was promoted on a 90 minute special of the show. This record only moved 100,000 or so units and is listed as 200,000 or so units because it is a double album. Ross was at her peak at this time, coming off of Love Hangover, Theme from Mahogany, and the movie Mahogany!
Natalie Cole and Donna Summer released double live albums around this time that went gold and platinum respectively.
Besides the Boss, no studio album by Ross went gold without a top ten hit. Remember, with Motown, with the exception of It’s My Turn, Ross either went to number one or missed the top ten altogether, and she had dry spells of years and years without a hit during the Motown era. Years without hits, also means years of poor album sales. Berry Gordy would realize that Ross was fading and would find a hit for Ross, the perks of sleeping with the CEO and having his baby. What is the resistance to Ross as a solo artist? That is what this forum is all about. Bad music, bad behavior, bad singing – everyone has an opinion. One thing that cannot be denied is that Berry Gordy told her that her records were not selling, which they were not.
Ross can you tell us why people would go to your shows but would not buy your albums?

Notice the difference in Patti's presentation as opposed to Ross'.
Jobeterob said she has a 150 million dollar fortune and gets a half million per show. Are you calling him a liar?
When wearing a mumu and a fright wig, do you still snap your fingers at the staff or have them avert their eyes in your presence?

The difference in their presentation is that Patti LaBelle brought her band, rehearsed them and performed! Diane brought a pre-recorded track and from the sound of things, didn't even do a soundcheck!
Yeah, Jobeterob lies and he said she had a $500 million dollar fortune. I hardly believe she gets more than $12 -15,000 per show, let alone a half million! Tom Joyner did not pay her a half million dollars which is why her performance looked and sounded so bad!

[ Because she seems to possess deep seated mental issues. She does not present herself as a human being. Her ego has been out of control from day one. Simply put she is a B. Her talent is for the most part is far below her peers. She also put out a bunch of crap. The avert the eyes bit is a joke!!!

Smack That Diana Ross Across Her Face!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Call her Miss Ross? Miss Ross, my ass!!!!!!" --Mary Wilson Did Mary call it right, girls, I am telling you. When I saw Bette Midler play Sue Mengers, and heard that tired old story about Diana giving blow jobs in the back seat to Berry Giordy, my bile just rose in my mouth, like a bad case of acid reflux. Diana has been cheating her whole life, and getting away with it, and I am here to tell you, it has got to stop! Somewhere, there has to be accountability. Even if it isn't at my workplace!!!!!!!!!!!!
Miss Ross is no better than the trash she left behind in the Projects in Detroit. I say, send her right back there, just like she did with Florence Ballard.
Listen, Diana, I am better than YOU! And I can do that whole "Love Child" thing just as good as you!!!!!!!!! "Touch Me In The Morning?" Piece of cake! How many have you touched anytime, Diana? Even the janitors at Motown, whose cocks you also sucked to get ahead!!!!!!!!!!! What a mouth on her, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whenever Diana goes to her Heavenly (?) reward, I hope I am here to see it! Because on the other side, Florence Ballard is waiting for her, to spend Eternity giving her the slap across the face that she should have gotten on Earth.!!!!!!! Hope it is done to "Love Child!:"
Before Reese Witherspoon tried to claim Celebrity Entitlement for herself, there was Diana Ross (who, unlike Reese, DOES have some talent, though not like Florence). She should have been solo, and Diana should have been the background slut she truly is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But what goes around, comes around, and even if it takes the Afterlife, Florence will give it to Diana!!!!!!!!!!
How about that incident at Heathrow Airport? "Do you know who I am?" she screams at officials! Oh, yeah, Diana, we know who you are!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are a fucking bitch, who needs to be held accountable!
Think it o-o-o-over, girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The EMPIRE team are still chasing Diana to guest star for a few episodes but she has cooled on the idea. Perhaps she will do STAR instead. Watch this space.

This is the type of gig the 'choosey' Miss Ross will do. Warning: turn down the sound on your computer because when Ross starts yelling and screaming the lyrics, off key, it is a very, very unpleasant experience.

The truth is Diana Ross is begging for any work she can get! She's has to pay those bills after all. Whatever that is she is doing in that video it is not singing. How ironic that her fans would make snarky remarks about Martha Reeves singing when Diana Ross cannot sing now and cannot stop working because she is very needy at the moment.....................
