Ross has been a train wreck for awhile. Ross' s appearance at a Motown 25th anniversary performance with 'her hair looking uncombed and a run in her stocking. 'How, people had to wonder, was it possible that Diana Ross would take to the stage with a run in her stocking?'
How can Ross go out in public looking the way she does?

Blind Item
This A list mogul and A list television and movie actor wants to sign one of the original divas to a new show. She was an A list singer and a first class diva but is now just a struggling C lister. All of his coworkers say no because the singer is all diva and no acting anymore. She has become a cartoon.

WHY DIANA ROSS HATES TYLER PERRY’s GUTS!
By PATRICIA SHIPP. NATIONAL ENQUIRER

DIANA ROSS hates Tyler Perry – she considers his “Madea” money making machine “lowbrow” and WORSE!
The 68-year-old Motown icon has flatly refused repeated requests to co-star with the “House of Payne” creator because she regards his body of work as too lowbrow, say insiders.
“Diana feels Tyler’s movies, TV shows and especially his main character ‘Madea’ have no substance,” an insider told The ENQUIRER.
The acclaimed actor/director/ producer has been trying to work with his idol Diana for years, “but she refuses to even discuss the prospect with him,” according to the insider.
The 42-year-old creative genius is devastated by Diana’s slap in the face and told a reporter: “She’s the only person that I have dreamed of working with that will not return my phone calls.”
Tyler found out that the former lead singer of The Supremes thinks his plays, movies and TV shows exploit African-American stereotypes, said the source.
“Diana is all about her entertainment legacy,” the insider explained.
“The last thing she wants is to co-star in a cheesy comedy starring a black man in a fat suit playing a half-cocked, angry old woman waving a gun.

After Diana Ross left the Supremes in 1970, Tammy was being considered to replace her but due to her illness and her preference to remain a solo artist, Motown abandoned the idea.

When Eddie Kendricks left the Temptations, Paul Williams (above, 2nd from left) completely lost his balance and couldn't even fake it on stage any more. Richard Street was brought in as his replacement and Paul, still under contract, was kept on salary by Motown as a "consultant" to the Tempts.
One day in August 1973, Paul came home from work to find his girlfriend, Winnie, partying with friends. Upset, he promptly left again. He was found some time later, dead with a bullet in his brain. The verdict was suicide. Everybody agreed that Paul had plenty of reasons to kill himself-he owed $80,000 in back taxes, his family life was in ruins, a boutique he had opened with Winnie had failed, he'd drunk himself out of the Temptations, and now considered himself a prisoner of Motown. But hardly anyone believed Paul had killed himself.
Eddie Kendricks had his doubts. He had seen Paul just a couple of days earlier and found him in a positive mood. Besides, as David Ruffin said, why would anyone get into his car with only his underwear on, drive to within a few blocks of Motown and using his right hand, shoot himself in the left side of his head? It didn't make sense.
Whatever the reason for Paul's death, it terrified Eddie. As the years went by, Eddie became increasingly self-controlled and cautious, carefully picking and choosing who he would allow in his life.
Paul's fate also made Eddie even more wary of Motown, despite the fact that his solo career was going well. Eddie thought he was going to be the male Diana Ross but nobody could be because Gordy wouldn't let them. And nobody was given the kind of star treatment or attention she got either, which Eddie resented.
Once, Eddie and Gordy were in an elevator together and Gordy allegedly told Eddie, "You know, your career would go much further if you would be like Diana and just do what you're told. "Well, I'm not Diana," Eddie replied. From that point on, according to Eddie, it was as if he didn't exist at Motown. According to Eddie, he wanted out of Motown despite his solo success and offered to buy his way out but Motown wanted him to sign an agreement relinquishing all future royalties. Eddie said, things got so bad, Motown had him in a hospital seeing psychiatrists. Eventually, Eddie signed the agreement.

The 60s, 70s, and early 80s Ross was Berry Gordy's vision. This is why The Supremes are not given the respect that is afforded the Beatles or Elvis. After the dust has settled, The Supremes are viewed as a product of the Motown machine. I celebrate Berry Gordy, the Svengali, and not Ross. She did as she was told. When she called the shots she ran her career and image into the ground.
A bartender said to me "Berry Gordy created a monster" and I never forgot it. How succinct those words are.

I just came across an article written for Vogue (UK) by British fashion designer Zandra Rhodes. At the end of the article, she mentions meeting with Diana Ross in 1975, for a 'late breakfast' the day after Ross did a late night/early morning recording session with Barbra Streisand! For years many fans of both divas speculated on whether these two have ever met, never mind recording a duet together (and most of us are familiar with the almost 'It's Raining Men' in 1979).
Now, Ms. Rhodes claims a duet really did happen back in 1975 (which is when Streisand recorded 'Lazy Afternooon' and Ross recorded 'Diana Ross'). All I can say is: I wish I was a guest at that 'late breakfast'

Something could very well be true, since the time frame seems to work... Diana Ross began recording tracks for her album, "Diana Ross" around May-June of 1975. The album was released in the beginning of February, 1976 (not to compete with the soundtrack for 'Mahogany' which was released in the Fall of 1975). Some of those new recordings were not used (according to many Ross bios) on "Diana Ross", and some of the songs omitted from the 'Mahogany' soundtrack were used instead. Maybe this duet was one of the unused tracks, especially if Streisand didn't approve of it?
