Quincy Jones was originally slated to produce the rca debut. He had agreed to do it but he was delayed producing Patti Austin's Every home should have one. Rca wanted an album promptly to capitalise on the Chic album. Diana demanded to produce the album, and several of the songs slated for the Quincy Jones project were given to Donna Summer which Quincy produced on her.
Lionel was not available to do a full album on Diana but a couple of demos exist and another Richie production was recorded for, but not included on the Swept Away project. Luther literally begged Diana to let him produce a full album on her. She was impressed with his work with Aretha, but less so for Dionne. Luther held out for a full album but finally relented and did It's hard for me to say for the Red Hot album.
Michael Jackson wanted to produce a full album on Diana, but after the success of WDFFIL she wanted to produce the album herself again. Michael submitted several demos , a few of which i have heard and they were awesome. He later produced one of these tunes "your the one" on Jennifer Holliday much to Diana's disdain.
The Bee Gees wanted to work with Diana a few years before they actually did. Barry Gibb originally envisaged Islands in the stream as a duet between him and Diana, but she did not like the song and rejected it along with several other demos, so he gave it to Kenny and Dolly. Some of those demos ended up on Kenny's album. Diana finally realised her mistake and the Gibb brothers came on board for Eaten Alive.
Phew!! Those are some of the facts. Make of them what you will

Yes that story is pretty much true. Hucknall and producer Stuart (Stewart?) Levine wanted to do a whole album with Diana. They did have a meeting but the idea never got out of 1st gear. It could have been good. She was going to record two albums at this particular time. One was a covers album as the soundtrack for RHRAB and the other an album of contemporary material, but in the end the idea was abandoned and the two albums were amalgamated into the one album

For some reason Diana never loved BIM as much as we the fans did. She did not get along with Richard Perry, but Gordy loved the results and hired Perry to do the follow up album even before BIM was released. A few demos were laid down but some of the songs were later given to Syreeta so i believe. She did love The Boss. She always got along with Nick and Val in the studio and Val had nothing but nice things to say about Diana when i met her a few years ago. Although the album did go gold everyone was expecting it to go platinum such was the strength of the songs, production values and vocals, not to mention that stunning album cover.

O.K., yeah right... Silk Electric is an assemblage of tracks left over from the Why Do Fools Fall In Love sessions that didn't make the grade the first time around. You post a lot of bullshit my friend.

You post a lot of bullshit my friend. He is posting total bullshit. Why is it nowhere else in the World have we heard that Quincy Jones was interested in producing Diana Ross except in Blueblock's mind? He produced the soundtrack to "the Wiz "so he knew what a nightmare it would be working with Diana Ross! Also, you are right Silk Electric was a hodge podge of tracks left over from the first RCA lp. Diana Ross was saving on money and time and did not really give a shit about her music or her fans. That gift from Michael Jackson "Muscles" she almost through back in his face by telling the public at her concerts that "she didn't know if that was suppose to be her fantasy or his!". She is a lowdown cow.

With this post he has verified that he is a fraud. An anonymous fraud of course. Every Home Should Have One was recorded in two weeks in March of 1981. Quincy Jones was never slated to produce Ross' debut album.
None of the songs on Donna Summer's album were slated for Ross. In fact, Donna Summer discussed how Quincy Jones searched for material for the album from various songwriters and sources and how he has the ability to find songs for a project. Bluecocks which songs from that project were slated for Ross. The two songs Summer co-wrote? The song Bruce Springsteen wrote for Donna?

There was a possibility that CHIC would produce the RCA Debut, but Ross and Chic could not come to terms on a contract because Ross was being a difficult bitch, so CHIC walked away from negotiations. There was an article in Billboard about this. Ross ended up 'producing the album herself' because RCA wanted the album out in time for holiday season and she had no producer. In other words, she took credit for other people's work and called her self a producer.
Too busy snapping fingers at the help, firing people, demanding eyes be averted for Miss Ross, getting plastic surgery, chasing after Gene Simmons, when her next album was due Ross just used old tracks for Silk Electric. She did not go into the studio to record that album in 1982.
Hey Bluecocks, in your world Nile Rodgers used the demos slated for Ross RCA debut on Bowie's Let's Dance album. LMFAO!
Make sure you wipe around your lips before leaving the house, there a bits of bullshit there.

I am sure you know you just tore Bluerocks a new asshole! I actually remember that article in Billboard now about Chic producing Diane on her first RCA album and how it ended up not happening. Almost every producer she has worked with could not get along with her which is why all of those top producers refused further involvement with her. I mean she pissed off Michael Masser, Richard Perry, Lionel Richie, Barry Gibb and the Gibb Brothers, HDH but they had no choice in the early days but to produce the Supremes at Berry's orders. She intimidated both Michael Jackson and Luther Vandross which was the most stupid mistake! It is said that she got along with Ashford and Simpson, yet with Nick Ashford died, she did not attend his funeral. People asked aloud about her whereabouts.
There were very few people that have worked with her on a recording project more than once. She caused herself a shit load of hit records because of her personality.
