I think Diana is deeply depressed. In old age she is thinking of how she mistreated those poor girls Flo and Mary!

Desert Island Discs: My Supreme love by ‘Mr Motown’
MOTOWN founder Berry Gordy has revealed how he forgave Diana Ross for signing a £14million deal with a rival record label despite making her “the biggest star in the world”. Gordy, 86, nicknamed Mr Motown after founding the Detroit label in 1960, told BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs that developing Ross’s career with The Supremes was one of his greatest achievements.
The couple also had a six-year love affair that produced a daughter Rhonda in 1971.
The man behind best-selling acts that included The Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, the Four Tops and Marvin Gaye, said: “Many of them were bought by these companies with the power and money, including Diana who left for $20million to go to RCA.
“I had been so hurt they had left me at a critical time in my career. But I could not close the door on these people. If it had been me and somebody had offered me $20million, I might have gone too. Diana was very special. She and I just are the greatest friends as are all Motown acts that I dealt with.”
Born in Detroit in 1929, the former boxer was 23 when he opened his first record store selling jazz but it flopped.
Everyone wanted to listen to the Blues. Bankrupted, Gordy took a job on the assembly line at the Ford Motor Company and wrote music in his breaks
Despite being married with three young children, he quit his job for song writing, prompting the first of his three wives to throw him out of the house.

Berry Gordy
It was while he was staying with his sister that he wrote his first hit for Jackie Wilson, To Be Loved, which he chose as one of his castaway tracks.
First called Tamla after the hit song in the 1957 Debbie Reynolds film Tammy and the Bachelor, Tamla was merged with Motown – a mix of motor and town, Detroit’s nickname – by Gordy in 1960.
As well as producing 110 top 10 hits from 1961 to 1971, Motown also released three of Martin Luther King’s speeches as the most powerful African-American record label in the business.
The head guy said, ‘Maybe you don’t know it but this is our family and we’re staying here’.”
Admitting it was “very tough” to pick just eight tracks, Gordy also chose I’ll Try Something New, by his protege Smokey Robinson – still his best friend – and I Hear A Symphony by Diana Ross and The Supremes.
Gordy, who sold Motown to MCA for £42million in 1988, chose the complete works of Rudyard Kipling as his book and a cellar of fine wine as luxury item
