Her fans are partly responsible for this. They keep telling her that she is great and her shows are great. She apparently believes them. It is time to retire. This looked like a free concert. She ruined her voice by singing through her nose all of those years. In stead of being a hoe she should have been in choir practice. Any choir instructor would have corrected Diane and warned her you can physically damage your chords with that crap. Were there better singers than Ross at Motown? Of course. Martha Reeves, Brenda Holloway, Mary Wells, Birdsong and Wilson and on and on. But Ross, in addition to having the owner of the company putting everything into making her a star, many times at the expense of better singers, also had a distinct voice. Not necessarily good but distinct, kinda like how Neil Young or Bob Dylan wouldn't be your first choice to who technically has the "best" voice, but when they sing you sure as hell know who it is! Diana, Neil and Bob of course can all put a song over but in the traditional sense of the term, none have good singing voices

Diana is definitely driven and ambitious, knew what she wanted and went after it without letting anyone get in her way. I can respect that. But I also think that she's just an "ok" singer and overrated. At the same time, I can't sit up here and say that she hasn't earn her right to be respected as a legend. shrug Sure I like a few of her songs, but she's not one of my favorite artists. As far as her being a "bitch" goes, well can't say for sure if she is or isn't because I haven't met her personally, however, anytime a woman goes after what she wants to get ahead, she's ALWAYS going to be labeled as being a "bitch" regardless No she has been labeled a bitch because of her treatment or mistreatment of people. Has nothing to do with ambition. Ross has always been a real bitch to begin with. She doesn't care about anyone except herself.

A little Supremes history....
Cindy Birdsong didn't join the Supremes until late 1967, by which time the Supremes collaboration with H-D-H was essentially over (they would leave Motown soon thereafter)
The Ross-Wilson-Birdsong lineup was made-for-TV and the concert stage, but not really much of a recording act, aside from a handful of album tracks. Neither Cindy nor Mary sang on "Love Child" - the backing vocals were sung by The Andantes. The ironically-titled "Someday We'll Be Together" featured Maxine and Julia Waters on background vocals. In fact, that song was originally slated to be the first Diana Ross solo single but ended up being their "farewell" song. It's interesting to watch the TV clips of those songs - how painful that must have been for Mary and Cindy to lip-synch to a record they didn't even sing on.
In my humble opinion, Diana's leaving in 1970 was the best thing that could have happened to both parties at that time. Diana was teamed up with Ashford & Simpson (and later Deke Richards) and made some great (again, IMHO) albums and singles. The Supremes picked up a terrific new lead singer in Jean Terrell and had some pretty high-quality albums and singles themselves. Now that's a line-up I might have paid money to see in 2000.

She's a bitch and a slut. I like her. I don't know about the "slut" part. But Diana Ross was definitely F***ing For Tracks when it comes to Berry Gordy. I dare anyone to convince me otherwise

DIANA ROSS & BERRY GORDY (PASSIONATE LOVE AFFAIR)
In Jim Brown's book "Out Of Bounds," he reveals, "Berry Gordy's deepest sense of loss did not come from losing Motown. It came from losing Diana Ross. For the past twenty years, I've always felt Berry Gordy was in love with Diana Ross, that they were meant to be together, but events and people in their lives prevented it. When I think of Berry and Diana, I think of immense but frustrated love.
Once, Berry and I and Bill Russell drove to Palm Springs for a sportsman's weekend. Berry was supposed to leave, he had plans to visit Diana but he wasn't motivated and he stayed a few extra days in the desert. On our final day, there was a news flash on TV. Diana Ross had gotten married to a Jewish agent. Bill and I were shocked. Berry was punched in the stomach. He didn't know a thing about it. I'll never forget one of her concerts.
Diana began singing "Someday We'll Be Together Again" and she started crying on stage. I knew she was crying for Berry. After the show, I went backstage. Then an unusual thing happened. Berry walked in. I didn't even know he was in Vegas, yet here he was. In the quiet of Diana's dressing room I could see the deepness of their love. So I left.
The next day there was a tennis tournament at Caesar's Palace. When I arrived, Berry and Diana were sitting in Diana's box and Berry's current girlfriend, Grace, sat behind them."

“A lot of people realized it wasn’t a true Supremes reunion and it cast a negative pall on the tour before it even started,” said Gary Bongiovanni, editor of Pollstar, a concert industry trade publication.
It’s one of the biggest business disasters yet for SFX, the company that dominates the concert industry. Industry insiders speculated that they paid too much for Ross and overestimated her appeal.

According to Rick James:
Val Young (center) was a lady I wrote and produced two albums for. I met her in Memphis during the "Bustin' Out," tour.
She came backstage with this other chick. At that time the Gap Band was opening for me. Their lead singer, Charlie Wilson was hanging out with me.
We both met Val at the same time. When I asked Val what she wanted, she said, "You!"
She was a beautiful black woman, a complete package. While looking at her, I said, "You're a Gemini, aren't you?" She said, "Yes."
After that I told Charlie, "You got her."
I did not want to mess with another Gemini. I could always feel a Gemini. Charlie was an Aquarius, like me and a wild motherf**ker!"
Val used to sing background with George Clinton. She also sang background with me during the Street Songs tour, until one day she got tired of taking the Stone City Band's shit and quit.
Rick adds: "Val and I used to smoke base together and just have wonderful sex. Then one day after leaving the tour she said: "No more freebasing." I've never known her to take another hit off the pipe since. I was always impressed with her ability to give it up."
One year, when the Grammy's were over, Diana Ross asked Val, the Mary Jane Girls and me, back to her house.
Later, she asked me, "Who is this girl, Val Young?" At first I thought, "Uh-oh, what has Val done now?" But Diana said, "Rick, don't you ever loose her."
I said, "What?"
Then Diana went on to tell me how she and Val were both from Detroit, and how they talked about recipes and growing up in the Brewster projects.
I think Val brought Diana down to earth for a moment. Diana wasn't Diana anymore, just a poor, struggling girl from Detroit's Brewster projects.
In the industry, Val Young remains likable and is often seen with Eddie Murphy and Johnnie Gill. She's also an fixture at their parties in Los Angeles and Las Vegas

"The poor attendance could be the ticket prices, it could be the competing tours, or it could be that there's not enough star power there with Diana Ross anymore," Howard said. "But I think part of it has to be disgruntled fans upset about the Mary Wilson treatment. . . . There was just no justification for Diana Ross to treat her old colleagues that way." They tried their best to come up with a phony story to try to help Diana Ross save face. The truth is no one wanted to see her perform a "Supremes" concert without Mary Wilson! Cindy Birdsong as well to a lesser extent. The promoters and Ms. Ross underestimated the American Public. The same public that Ms. Wilson and been touring and performing for over 23 years at that point as a solo and 15 years prior to that as a Supreme. They thought that all that was need was Diana. Bitch go straight to rehab because you were totally delusional. It's shameful what Ross did imo.

Who cares if Diane tried some muff back in tha day! Mare's done it a few times and loves it. She frequented Kitty Bar and Booty Bar when she was home in Vegas and loves the attention of a big butch gal.

Berry Gordy didn't help matters any by having Diana being THE only lead vocals of The Surpremes. He didn't help matters at all and he is sorry now. I know he is sorry to see his premier group and his "star" go out this way. He's done everything including writing a fairytale stage play to try to keep a positive image in the public's mind about Diana Ross. It will not work. Thinking back on how she handled the RTL Tour just refreshes the thought that she is an evil, nasty bitch that will have to answer God one day for how she's treated people. She is rotten to the core! Ross is a "Supreme" egomaniac. Nothing she does would shock me.

She slept her way to the top, first with Berry Gordy and then with lots of Caucasian men.

They also underestimated the love and recognition the public had for Mary Wilson and Cindy Birdsong. Some guy from SFX even said he was surprised that Mary wanted more money as he had never knew her name before tour discussions. That was a big admission of just how stupid the promoters were. Why would you invest millions into a product, service or anything and not know what the key ingredients are? In this case Mary Wilson and Cindy Birdsong two-thirds of the group! Stupidity at the highest level. If they were that ignorant, all they had to do was pick up a couple of Supremes albums or simply Google....."The Supremes". Idiots the whole lot at SFX/TNA!

How could that happen to "The Supremes"? Jay Leno quipped that if you want to be alone, in solitude this coming weekend, then go see the Supremes Return to Love Tour!
