The key word is washed! Something is obviously wrong with this woman. A family member presenting themselves in public like that would be a source of humiliation and concern for the average citizen, let alone a former superstar. No one is touching this woman - even Oprah. Ross doesn't have to worry about going out in public and being hounded by fans or the press. Those days are over. No one cares anymore.
Ross can tour forever on her Motown legacy. The most work she can get is a small venue a month. More and more she will stoop to playing luncheons and corporate functions and cruises and festivals. She will do good business in NYC, and CA. One year this will stop.
In the span of a month Bluelocks posted he was concerned that there would be even sufficient interest in his book about Ross and the Supremes, and then he posted he is being offered BIG MONEY - MILLIONS to tell his story.
Oh, I better be careful and stop pressing buttons or Bluecocks with blow this thing wide open and shatter our illusions once and for all. Let me clarify this once and for all. Diana continues to get offers of record deals and has done so for the past few years. There are a couple of labels that want her to record "standards" albums in the vein of the great American Songbook. This is what Clive Davis had her in mind for. He made Diana a more than decent offer for a 4 album deal which she came quite close to signing, but she felt that the market was already over flooded with veteran artists putting this type of album out so she backed out at the last minute. Davis has subsequently returned with similar offers. She has also been offered deals to record more "current" material with the younger and trendy producers which is of much more interest to her, but here is the stumbling block. Diana would have to travel around the world to promote the product and then undertake an extensive world tour. Those are the conditions, and Diana does not feel like she wants to take on such a commitment at this stage in her life. She is happy to tour the USA and undertake the occasional private gig overseas, but she enjoys spending time with here family and does not want to be away for months at a time. She does not need the money, and she is unlikely to change her stance on this. Alicia Keys wrote some songs specifically for Diana whilst Will i am has expressed a desire to write and produce for her as have Nile Rogers and Pharrell Williams. Justin Timberlake attended one of her gigs last year and practically begged Diana to let him write and produce for her to no avail. It is very unlikely to happen folks, and the only person who can make this happen is Diana herself, but she will not agree to the conditions. I hope this clears up the matter once and for all. My advice? Enjoy her back catalogue and enjoy the occasional unreleased songs on the expanded editions. The forthcoming Ross78 looks especially interesting..... soulfuldetroit.com/showthread.php?18517-Diana-Ross-s-Record-Deals-after-2002
This says it all. To the original poster I hope there is no offense.

Chainreaction roberta75 will never meet you for obvious reasons.hector they know dr is a hot mess now but they will never admit it.mpnijco people say this site is trash and a fraud but they stillClearly throughout her career she has demonstrated that she's not always the most reasonable person. (Again, check out her RCA albums. LOL) It would not surprise me in the least to find out that Clive was offering Diana a contract and she rebuffed the offer or offers. For one, she is said to be a complete control freak. Clive Davis is not just an executive but one who knows that he knows what he is doing. I don't find it hard to believe that Diana would not want to work for someone she couldn't control. Add to that if Clive was coming to the table with these American songbook ideas and Diana totally not wanting to do that (even though that's what she ultimately ended up doing anyway), she wouldn't sign that contract. Add to that the fact that half truths and flat out lies are told in the business ALL THE TIME, I can see where it's possible that she had the offers from Clive and yet spun a narrative that no one wanted her. Maybe she hoped more offers would pour in after these kinds of declaratory statements from record companies willing to bend over backwards to have a star of her caliber on the roster, and maybe affording her the chance to do whatever she wanted, creatively speaking. And then she got her feelings hurt when it didn't work. Those are my possible scenarios. Lol check it everyday. Peaceout from a bittrer gay bitch

I've never been a Diana Ross fan. For that reason I've never seen her in concert, nor have I ever bought any of her solo albums. I enjoyed her work with the Supremes, but Mary was always my personal favorite. To me, Diana's voice has always had a very thin, nasal, whiny quality that I find annoying and not the least bit soulful. As for her acting ability(?), I saw "Lady Sings The Blues" when it was first released, I thought her acting skills were mediocre at best; I've never seen Mahogany or The Wiz and I don't intend to. Diana Ross has never inspired me in any way, shape or form. : when has Diana Ross ever given praise, thanks or credit to anyone? Excellent post Gary! Miss Ross is the most exciting performer on the planet IMO. Miss Ross loves being on stage and performing for a crowd. The lady gives 140% ever time.
Best to you Hector.

You know the exact songs she is going to sing and the order she is going to sing them for each and every show. There is rarely any dialogue between her and the audience. I could understand if Ross didn't have a contract but she had this incredible live act that fresh, new, and creative that offers might be coming in to tap into that certain 'something', but that is not happening. Patti Labelle has a hot live show and you never see the same Patti Labelle twice. She also has her pie business and soul food restaurants. Why doesn't Ross do something else now that the public is not interested in hearing her sing anymore?

In late July 2002 Diana was back performing before audiences - In London then in Boston- and was receiving solid reviews. Just a week later, however, she cancelled the remainder of the American leg of her tour, with health issues being cited for her not fulfilling her contract obligations.

In 2002 Ross had to cancel the tour to seek treatment for drug and alcohol related issues. Notice in 2017, Ross is touring with a 5 piece band and look at the band she had in 2002. Her star has really fallen. If you play the video at 2.38, turn up the volume really loud and any rodents, insects, AND 4 legged creature will QUICKLy evacuate the building. She yells, screams and off key at thaT!

[ there is nothing slanderous abt relaying one's perception of a stage performance.no different than a critic's review. And her performance's are very sub standard honey. What a shame given her Motown training through Berry's money.
